Cationic bituminous emulsion
KE-1 (C55B4)
KE-1 (C55B4) is a cationic bituminous emulsion with rapid breaking and low viscosity. It has excellent adhesion to bituminous surfaces. The film formed after application and drying is resistant to dilute solutions of acids and bases, unaffected by soil salts, but vulnerable to organic solvents, oils, and strong chemical cleaners. Using KE-1 bituminous emulsion results in better bonding of bituminous layers, reducing the likelihood of one layer slipping over the other due to traffic. It is CE certified as a product for bonding pavement layers according to the EN 13808 standard.
Applications
KE-1 (C55B4) is used for bonding applications between bituminous layers, surface treatments of pavements, and impregnation of compacted surfaces.
Packaging and storage
Available in bulk in tanker trucks and in metal barrels of 210kg. KE-1 should be protected from low temperatures (<5ºC) and high temperatures (>60ºC) to prevent separation of the emulsion. Store in covered and frost-protected areas at temperatures not lower than 5ºC. When the packaged product is to be stored for a long period, stirring should be done weekly. In the case of storing bulk product in tanks for extended periods, the tanks should be thermally insulated with heating capabilities, and there should be a stirring or recirculation system.
