KE-5 (C40B5)
KE-5 (C40B5) is a cationic bituminous emulsion with medium breaking speed and low viscosity. It contains water and special emulsifiers, while it has excellent adhesion to aggregate surfaces. The film formed after application and drying is resistant to dilute solutions of acids and bases, unaffected by soil salts, but vulnerable to organic solvents, oils, and strong chemical cleaners. Using KE-5 bituminous emulsion makes the base and subbase layers of bituminous pavements water-resistant, increasing their strength. It is CE certified as a product for primer coats of pavement bases according to the EN 13808 standard.
Applications
KE-5 (C40B5) is used for primer coatings on pavement bases made of aggregate materials.
Packaging and storage
Available in bulk in tanker trucks and metal barrels of 210kg. KE-5 should be protected from frost (temperatures <5ºC) and heat (temperatures >60ºC) to prevent coagulation. If stored in tanks for a long period, ensure that the tank is thermally insulated, has heating capabilities, and includes a stirring or recirculation system.
